An extremely thin chestnut dog staggered his way through the market place trying to avoid the humans. His amber eyes were dull from lack of nourishment and with every step he took he seemed to grow weaker. He eyed the food but knew it was no use trying to steal any because the humans were gaurding it. He sighed, at least his suffering would not last much longer. He laid down under an wooden stand displaying shiny red apples. If only he could just have one, just one scrap of food to curb the aching hunger in his gut. After a moment of resting he gathered what was left of his strength and, grabbing one of the smooth round fruits, he half ran half limped into an alley and disappeared from sight.

As Bridget left the junkyard and told Ambervoke the good news of Harley, she disided to go and grab a snack. As she came to an apple stand, she noticed a huge lump of matted fur, just lying on the ground. It looked like a fur coat that a rich women must of lost. Yet the more Bridget looked at it, the more it seemed to look like the chest was moving up and down. Then sure enough the fur got up and grabbed an apple. As Bridget watched from afar she let out a small bark to let the dog know she was around.

Anubis' ears snapped back at the sound of the other dog. He quickly turned to face the source of the bark, the hair on the back of his neck stood up and his tail was between is legs. The shiny apple was still clutched between his ivory fangs. He wasn't an aggressive dog but he didn't know this new dog's intentions. Was she here to steal his food? Anubis backed further into the alley, never taking his eyes from the dog before him.

Bridget took a step foward. She was like her Aunt in so many ways. She took another step foward and licked her maw. She then let out another bark and said "Whats the matter puppy? Afraid big bad Bridgets going to take your apple?" She then let out a playfull growl.

Anubis' ears perked up a little, maybe this dog wasn't here to hurt him. He put his apple down and set a paw on top of it. "I'm Anubis." he said in a soft voice. For a moment he imagined having a friend that he could help and they in turn would help him. He hadn't ever been around other dogs during the time he lived with the humans but maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have an ally on these dangerous streets.

Bridget smiled at him, as he let his guard down some. She smiled again and said "Like I said before Im Bridget. And nice to meet your Anubis" She started to wag her tail some, she then went and sat down as she looked at this dog. He looked so thin and frail she turned her head to the side as her eyes filled with sadness she then asked "Why are you so thin? Dont you ever eat?"

Anubis snorted a wry laugh. "I'm not exactly used to having to get my own food. I made the mistake of depending on the humans and now look at me." His eyes showed the pain of betrayal and the anger caused from his suffering. "I'm getting the hang of it though." he added as he took a bite of the apple he had stolen. "So did you ever live with a human?" he asked trying to start conversation.

Bridget looked at the dog with the same pitty in her eyes. She then answered his question "No I was born on these streets. But my Aunt Harley she was raised by humans. They were cruel to her and made her fight. Thats why she has a cruel heart today"

Anubis looked down at his apple. "I'm sorry to hear that. My human master was always good to me but one day they just left and didn't take me with them." he looked back up at Bridget. "That was almost a month ago. At first I didn't know what to do but I've learned to avoid the aggressive dogs and steal a scrap of food here and there." with one last snap of his jaws the apple was gone. It hardly made a difference in his growling stomach but he felt better not only from the food but from talking with another of his kind. It seemed not everything on these streets brought evil for to the shy, skinny hound the dog in front of him looked like an angel.

Bridget smiled at this dog. She felt bad for him she then said "Are you still hungry?" she wasnt much of a stealer but she had gotten the hang of it, and by the looks of it this dog needed more food. She began to wag her tail at him. He was kinda handsome. Once you got past all you could see was skin and bones. He looked like a bag of bones, but he was still handsome to Bridget

"I'll be alright." Anubis replyed getting to his feet. He felt a little stronger now but it still seemed to take alot just to stand. "Well i guess this is where we part ways." he said looking into the eyes of the friendly dog. "I was great talking to you and I hope we meet again." he turned to leave the alley and go back to his life of solitude.

Bridget shook her head and said "Yeah, I guess so" she turned around to walk, turned her head to take one last glance at him said "Bye" then walked towards the junkyard. She was going to see how things went with Ambervoke and Harley, Bridget then thought to herself "Does he even have members in his pack?" Then it hit Bridget she yelled out to Anubis "Hey Anubis do you need a home? Because I know a pack you could live with. Well that is if you want. You dont have to." She had to stop talking she was going to freak the poor dog out, if she hadnt already

Anubis paused when Bridget spoke. "Well I don't really have a home." he said considering it carefully. His spirit was soaring at the thought of being accepted, at the thought of having friends. "You know, I think I might just have to take you up on that offer." he said flashing her a quick smile. "I can't thank you enough for all you've done, I needed to talk and you just happened to be there I don't think something like that can happen by pure conensidence." Anubis approached Bridget, this was the closest he had been to another dog in weeks.

Bridget's smile grew larger, she then said "I will lead you there" She then turned around took a few steps looked over her shoulder and said "You comin?" she then turned her head again and faced towards the junkyard, where Ambervoke lived.

"Yeah I'm coming." Anubis said as he quickened his limping stride to catch up with her. He met her eyes and flashed her a quick smile.
