High on top of the ridge, two dogs sat, overlooking the city as it shined in the moonlight. The lights from all the windows illuminating the darkness until they appeared to be thousands of fireflies fluttering about in the night breeze. The elder female was the first to break the silence, speaking quietly to her daughter beside her.
"From here it seems so small, doesn't it?"
The younger Boerboel looked to her mother curiously, but turned back when the tan dog looked down at her. She couldn't stand to meet her mother's gaze. It was so lifeless, so deprived of everything that made dogs sane. It scared her to say the least but Kira had been punished once before for being scared. She dare not have it happen again. Muzzle was a keen dog however. She knew her pup was afraid to look her in the eye, but tonight was no time for chastising.
"There must be a million dogs in that city. Out there, there is someone special waiting for you. I just know it..."
Kira couldn't help but smile smugly for but a moment, erasing the gesture from her face quickly so that her mother would not catch sight of it.
"And what of you mother? There must be someone out there for you as well..."
Muzzle chuckled softly at the inexperienced youngster's words. One and half years meant that the brindle dog was no longer physically a pup, but she still thought like one.
"Yeah, there is. the devil has been waiting for me for four years..."

Sampson wasnt on the ridge ut a ways below, hed left his home for tonight to go have some fun some punk rock tune in his head as he trotted sniffing along the hedges and things, hed made it across the roads there was a little less traffic at night but still this brute was used to home life with ythe humans being fed left overs and premium cost dog food that kept him muslcy and looking fine, and he was fine, a wonderfull specimin of a boxer, thought whiyte he had no trouble hearing or seeing and was infact lucky to be here, he knew now what happened to the white dogs of his species often they were killed at birth, because a deaf or blind dog was not good breeding.
