The lot seemed empty beyond compare. Not a single soul dared enter its depths. At none with any sense. Yet, weaving between the vehicles was the form of a large dog, stark white against the pitch background that was the New York City skyline. His thick claws made slight clicking against the harsh concrete surface as he padded along, sniffing the junk that surrounded him and lifting a leg on the more substantial piles. This land was his now and there was nothing anyone could do about it.
Moving from one pile to the next, the chow would sniff then wiz, sniff then wiz. In time, the whole yard was his, almost every car marked and the whole area wreaked of his scent. It floated high above the city and could be sensed a mile away, but just in case the message was missed....
The broad muzzle lifted to the stars and moon, the loudest of howls drifting out of his lungs and across the land. It lifted to the heavens and fell back down to earth, landing heavily on every dog in the city. If they could not smell, they could definitely hear it. This land was his. This was the Terra of Zeus and there was nobody who could change that...

Desiree a beautiful purebred Calahoula Leopard Dog trotted in the junkyard and looked around. She could only smell a strong tang of rank so she trotted on. She was looking for the brute that ruled this yard and she found him. She barked, Hello brute, I'm desiree, and you are? She asked politly. She met his gaze and looked around.

Thickly furred carcass whipped around at the sound of another, hackles raised instinctively. When dark optics landed upon the form of a female, the dog immediately relaxed. Not fully, but enough so that he was no longer threatening. Still a bit cautious, the chow approached the fem, his ears perked and tail up and waving slightly as he walked. This was his land and he had every right to impose his authority. Pausing right in front of the leopard dog-Desiree, the chow gave a loud snort.
"Zeus. What can I do for you?"

Desriee wagged her tail and smiled smugly. I am in search of a mate and a place to live, besides, tis the season for breeding and brithing strong, healthy pups, isn't it? She looked up and down, scaning the bull. His structure was well built. Worthy of her her. She decided he was safe enough and sat back on her haunches.

The chow lifted a furry white eyebrow curiously at the fae, his thick head tilting to one side. She was an interesting character. She already had browny-points with him for being very frank and too the point. He personally hated it when others tried to sugar-coat everything, using big words to make themselves look smart. Just say what you gotta say and move on. A soft smile spread across his broad muzzle, causing the fuzz on the side of each cheek to lift up.
"Okay then. Convenient that you came to my terra to find such things. But you must prove yourself a strong, worthy female yourself to be my mate."
Despite what the brute made it seem, that wouldn't be too difficult of a task for the fae. Just a short conversation and maybe a short hunt to see how ell she could handle herself. That would do it... From what he could see however, they would make beautiful offspring, fit to inherit this land when the chow grew too old...

Desiree lifted her chin a bit higher, fine, what do I do first? Steal a large meat from the market? Push some lady in a dress into Lake Seagull? She grinned. She licked her jowls and sniffed the air. There was a small clatter some way off from a rat searching for food. Desiree flicked her ears and slightly moved her head to the sound. Her dappled pelt hit a glint of light and shone very brightly.

Glancing to the sky, the chow let out a thoughtful "hmmm", a very innocent pondering face upon his features. He sat there thinking for a good minute or so, dark chocolate gaze shifting from the sky to Desiree to his left to his right and back again. He wanted to come up with a challenging task for the fae, but not too challenging. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the chow gave up and just shrugged.
"Guess we'll go hunting. You can prove yourself then. Hungry?"
This in itself was another test for the female. Zeus had pretty high morals and would not hunt or kill when he was not going to eat it. He hunted only when hungry or possibly if another needed to b fed. If they did decide to make some offspring, he would very willing feed them as often as needed.

Desiree stood and narrowed her golden pools with a smug grin, ok, that's easy enough, lets go, and where? She padded around him unpatiently. She licked his cheek and trotted away to a distance. She sat down thinking he might be anoyed by her inpacience. She let her thongue roll out in a steady pant. She looked around and sniffed the air gingerly.

Watching the fae pace, the chow got himself a bit of satisfaction out of her movement. A dog of action, something he was as well. Well, when he wasn't feeling too lazy anyway. Ignoring the lick, the brute took his time standing and stretching, pausing to shake out his fur and scratch at his ear. Another test for this female. How much tolerance does she have? But, Zeus had little tolerance himself and was soon sniffing about the general area.
"Wherever food is present."

DEsiree stood up and pricked her ears. Then she heard a rat scuttling about. She slowly inched forward. Then when the rat was in full view she ran for it. It let out a loud screech. Desiree snarled as she gadded it and broke the dumb things spinal cord. She droped it at Zeuses paws. One rat fellet. She sat down, want some more, I could find human food, or some more rats. She stood back up, now she was less enthusiastic about the whole thing so she wasn't bouncing arounf waiting for instuctions.

The female's success surprised the brute visibly, causing both pale eyebrows to rise. He had expected the bitch to find the rat, but to be so swift in its destruction was a little less than astonishing, but close enough to register as such. So she could feed herself and their pups. A good start, but how easy would it be to tolerate her presence on the chow's part? After all, they'd be mating for life...
"I appreciate the gesture but the kill is yours. As alpha female, you have all the rights that I do, including first dibs on a carcass. Besides, I like to kill my own food..."
Turning about smoothly, the chow gave the leopard dog a wink before totting off around some cars, only to reappear a moment later with a huge sewer rat in his maw...

Desiree smiled and lied down to take a nice sized chunk out of the carcass. She lifted her head as Zeus reappeared. She had finished her rat by now and she was lickinf her jowls. She stood up and nuzzled Zeus. If he wanted puppies he would have to breed with her soon because the season would be over in a month or so. She sat down to wait for him to finish.

Dropping the rat to the ground, the chow reveled in the muzzle a moment before laying down to eat. He didn't like eating standing up, always made his stomach do flip-flops. Despite the size of the rat, it was reduced to nothing but the tail in mere moments, Zeus being a notoriously ravenous eater.. but he never ate the tail. The texture was too gritty and the skin often got stuck in his teeth. But, with all that aside, chow turned his attention back to the leopard hound, an innocent smile upon his face.
"So... what now?"
Being the alpha male, it felt strange to ask another what they thought of things, ready to follow them instead of lead, but this whole situation was new to him. He never had a mate before...

Desiree smiled, I don't know, just sit around and wait for something to happen, walk the streets, or if you wanted puppies... She raised her brow. Desiree would love to have some puppies of her own, and from her mate of course. She yawned and sat there, doing nothink but thinking and staring.
If I had puppies of my own, I would have truly completed my lifes dream; to birth the perfect puppies and take care of them, a true mom!

Though the chow was surprised by the fae's proposition it was not a bad idea. Spring was almost over so they were going to do it, now was the time. Things were happening a little quickly for the brute, he was notorious for his ability to adapt. Getting up slowly from his position, he gave the leopard hound a skeptical look. He wanted to make sure she knew what she was commiting herself to doing..
"You sure you're ready?"
