Feli stood on the bank tense, ready to jump. She jumped in and swam to the opposite site. When she got out she shook her fur out and lie down. She let out a deep sigh and watched Magnum cross the river.

Magnumfollowed the fae to the river. Like her, he paused at its edge, looking out across the water. Glancing toward the female at his side, he was surprised to find her leaping into the water. She was going to swim across this huge river? Was she crazy? But, rather than voice his consern or mention the bridge to their left, he lept in as well. With a little swimming... okay, maybe a lot of swimming, he finally found himself on the other bank. Climbing up onto the bank, the sled dog shook his thick coat roughly, water flying everywhere...
"Woo. That was some swim, ay sheela?"

She looked at him, Sure, now what do you want to talk about? she laped up some water an set she eyes on him. His fur was spiked from the water and so was hers. She looked around and took a deep breath, SO?

Magnum was taken aback by the female's question. Talk about? they swam across that hug frigging river just so they could talk?! What kind of logic was that? He was expecting her to suggest a hunting expedition up the ridge or something way out there but talking was not one of them... However, he was happy that was all she had planned. he wasn't the most athletic dog in the world... but he tried. Sitting down slowly, the malamute thought for a moment...
"Hmm... I dunno, Sheelas usually go first... But, if you insist, how 'bout our likes and such? I like food an' music, cold weather an' snow's my favorite. The col'er the better, I always say! Then there's sleddin'. I love to pull stuff till the harness breaks, but aren't many places 'round here to do that..."
Pausing a moment, the malamute looked spontaneously nestolgic, his gaze drifting to his reflection the water for a moment before darting back to the female.
"So, whatta 'bout you then sheela? Whatta you like doin'?"

She thought it was cute how he cut one letter out of every word he said. After he had said what he liked she knew they where almost total opposites. Me? I like the ok temperature, you know some what hot and just a little more colder than hot. She thought she had confused him. I don't eat that much, it's good though. I like to herd sheep! The stupid little basterds don't even know they're own color! I don't like pulling things, but I like taking people for walks. It's cool they put this thing on you and grab the pandle, then its up to you to take them around town and not get them hit by cars.
She stopped, I like you you're interesting. she luaghed then looked away, do...do you, have a mate by any chance? she was getting all hot in the face with embbaresment.

The malamute nodded with every word she said, a stupid looking smile upon his face. She didn't seem like the type to pull sleds and things like he did but that was fine with him. he didn't do it anymore anyway. Not enough snow enough of the time. Plus, most humans didn't have the kind of sled he needed. No matter.... The grin momentarily dropped from the dog's broad muzzle when the question of a mate came up. Him? A mate?
"A mate? Naw, not me. I've got... i've... ah...."
He knew where this conversation was going, and in his opinion, it wasn't a bad place. But he couldn't commit himself to anyone, not while his otherside still existed. But he was frightened... He'd never told anyone of his other side before. She'd hate him afterwards, fear him forever. Magnum didn't want that....
"I've got.... got myself some problems sheela... Bad problems. Problems no mate would eva' want ta deal wit'..."

She looked confused, Tell me, oh do tell me, please! ashe begged. She wanted to know what his problem was. She looked at him with curiousity, and it remindered her of the saying, Curiousity killed the cat.

Turning his head away from her, the malamute focused his gaze on his reflection again. No, he couldn't bother her with such things. But he felt like he needed to tell someone, but not her. She was too fine a fae to be bothered with his other side. Sighing softly, the usually happy and very cheerful dog held the sadedst of looks in his gaze...
"Trus' me sheela. You don' want ta' know..."

She scooted closer to him and licked his cheek, it's ok, you can tell me, PLEASE! she gave him the puppy eyes and wagged her tail. She licked him again. She looked at his reflection in the water please she reateated in a whisper.

His gaze remained focused on the water for the longest time, his mind lost in thought, the voices starting up again. One was kind, soft and gentle, more like a song than a voice.
Why don't you tell her? You know you want to... You need to. Someone ought to know about the other side...
But as this voice trailed off, another started up. this one was deeper, more gruff, almost as if every word was dripping with venom...
But at the same time you know you can't. She'll hate you forever, she'll run away like all the others. You'll never see her again and you can't have that...
The malamute visibly winced, his eyes full of internal conflict.
But you know that I'm right. When has the other side steered you down the right path?
But at the same time, you know that I'm right. You've never had someone you cared about this way before, never met someone so kind yet feisty. She's your kind of girl and you can't run her off now...
But she's not you kind of girl if she can't accept both sides of you... You know no one will accept both sides of you. I'm simply too different from the one they've gotten to know....
Nonsense. Good or Bad, Blue eyes or Red, you will always be Magnum...
Just one others like and one everyone hates...
Finally, the malamute had had it. On the verge of tears, he collapsed to his stomach, his white furry paws over his head like someone was about to hit him upside the head, his crimson eyes closed tight.
"Shut up! Both a' you, Shut up! Leave me alone!"
Poor Feli must've been really confused at this point...

Magnum was quite the sight when she yelled at him the way she did. Yelping like a startled puppy, he recoiled onto his side, his tail tucked between his legs and his ears held back. His eyes were watery, the tears finally spilling over. All 120 lbs. of massive muscular malamute had suddenly turned to an over-sized puppy version of what it once was... and the voices were even louder...
See? what did I tell ya? Tell her and she's gone. poof, just like that...
Yet she seems agitated. She simply wants to know what's wrong...
He covered his ears with his paws again, whimpering loudly as the voices continued...
"They won't shut up..."
Wants to know so she can finally leave. She's tired of your wimpy whining and cowering. You're such a wuss. I should talk to her...
No! You will do no such thing!
Why? Who's gonna stop me? come on Mag. You know that three seconds with me and she'll be hookd on you once again...
No! She loves this Magnum, not you...
Correction: she used to love this one. Now she hates him and all his wussy glory. You still wanna love her right buddy? You still want her to love you right? Let me talk to her and both shall be true...
Do not listen to him! He speaks only lies!
Hey, quiet Bluey! I'm talking here!
He hated the voices, they way they argued inside his head. they gave him a headache, made him feel like some meaningless piece of meat being fought over. He wanted to drown, wished he had died that day in the mountains. sobs rocked the brute's furry body as he closed his eyes again...
"They jus' won't be quiet... tormentin' me..."

She was now bigining to worry about him, Magnum! Magnum, it's ok, I don't need to know if it hurts you that much! she whimpered. She got to him side and lied down to comfort him.

Still curled in a pathetic little ball, the malamute almost didn't hear her words. he couldn't for his ears were filled with his arguing voices. Stupid voices...
I don't have to listen to the likes of you!
Oh, but you should for the darkness knows best.
Darkness knows only that: darkness. Something Magnum wants no part of...
Oh and how would you know? Maybe he wants the darkness...
Because I'm who he used to be...
Oh, you think? Well, i say i'm what he used to be.
You can't be!
Why not? what proof do you have? i could be the old Mag for all we know...
But I know you're not!
Then prove it!
Still shaking, still whimpering, the malamute seemed so different now...

She steped back shaking her head, what had she done to him. The poor animal. She had drove his to insanity. She neared the water and turned ready to leave. I'm sorry for all the trouble I've cuased you! she jumped into the cold water and swam oward the other side, when she got there she shook off and lied down by one of the legs on the bridge. She looked at her paws not wanting to look anywhere else. She put her paws over her eyes and wailed, What have I done?!
